SUMMARY:CarFIT Program Hosted by Waveny LifeCare Network
DESCRIPTION:Waveny is pleased to host CarFIT\, a free\, interactive and educational program designed to improve older driver safety. Many driver safety programs improve adult driver safety by addressing cognitive abilities and skills\, however\, older drivers can also improve their safety by ensuring their cars are properly adjusted for them. \nA team of trained CarFIT technicians will be at The Inn\, Waveny’s independent living community at 73 Oenoke Ridge\, to work with each participant to ensure they “fit” their vehicle properly for maximum comfort and safety. A CarFIT check takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. \nCarFIT was created in 2006 in collaboration with AAA (American Automobile Association)\, AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and is designed to help older drivers find out how well they currently fit their personal vehicle\, to highlight actions they can take to improve their fit\, and to promote conversations about driver safety and community mobility. A proper fit in one’s personal vehicle can greatly increase not only the driver’s safety but also the safety of others! \nFor more information or to pre-book a time slot\, please email events@waveny.org. This event is free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Victorian Tea Service
DESCRIPTION:Embrace the spring season and join the Wilton Historical Society for an afternoon filled with delicious teas\, delectable bites\, gorgeous flowers and memories created with loved ones! \nThe classic Afternoon Tea is a tradition born around 1840 when members of the British aristocracy felt the need for a delicate snack – accompanied by delicious tea – to fill the long gap between the lunch and dinner menus. Afternoon tea became a staple and symbol of both the Victorian period and the wealth of the British Empire. As the popularity of the service grew\, certain utensils\, menus\, and etiquette developed along with it. \nThe Wilton Historical Society is very excited to be able to present our very own Victorian Tea Service on May 11th\, 2024 from 1pm to 3pm. Guests will be seated in a beautifully decorated tent in the courtyard of the Society’s campus\, with all the classically magnificent details expected from a 19th century tea service. Delicious teas and bites catered by A Dash of Salt will be accompanied by a presentation on the History of Tea from an expert from Bigelow Tea. \nThis event is generously sponsored by Wildbloom Skincare and Bigelow Tea. \nFlowers and arrangement generously donated by Wild Roses and Blooms. \nTickets are $60 per person for Wilton Historical Society Members; $75 per person for Non-Members. Registration Required. Please visit www.wiltonhistorical.org or email info@wiltonhistorical.org to reserve your spot today! \nPlease Note: This is a seated event\, if you would like to be seated with another party\, please specify in the notes section below.
