DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a winter blast of fun as we transform Wilton Center to a wonderland of activities for our annual Winter Carnival! Proudly sponsored by Fairfield County Bank\, the Winter Carnival will be held on Sunday\, February 4th from 12:00-4:00pm at the Town Green with other exciting festivities simultaneously taking place around Wilton Center. \nStart off the event with a whimsical horse drawn wagon ride around the Town Center sponsored by Kimco Realty and  watch a live ice sculpting demonstration by the Gazebo and win prizes for our scavenger hunt by finding the beautiful ice sculptures throughout town! \nAdditional festivities will include a magic show\, character meet and great with your favorite “winter princess and snowman”\, and carnival performers engaging adults and young ones at the Town Green! \n \nA selection of food and beverage options will be available from our local food trucks – Bubble and Brew\, and Cousins Maine Lobster. Activities to keep the kids busy will include face painting\, sand art\, and crafts – all provided by our local organizations participating in the event. \nMake sure you stop by the corner of Schenck’s Island where the Rotary Club of Wilton will be providing a bonfire and  s’mores for roasting that afternoon. DESCRIPTION:Connecticut Fitness Lab\, LLC (CTFL)\, a medical-based fitness facility located in Stop &Shop Plaza\, Wilton Center\, will sponsor CTFL client and Wilton artist Shivani de Bree\,\nduring an exhibition of her oil-on-canvass works.\nCTFL Owner and Licensed Exercise Physiologist Paul Landi explained the motivationbehind this seemingly odd pairing of exercise and art. “We encourage our clients andthe entire community to explore many different ways to stay active and have fun—be it\na bike ride\, creative gym-based workout\, walk in the park\, or an outing to a local\nmuseum. The idea is to encourage community and promote self-care via fitness and the arts “ said Landi. “What better way to do this than to spotlight an artist whose own art and fitness journey has resulted in healing to now uplift others?\nThe two-day event will begin Saturday\, January 27th with an 8am specially designed workout (general public welcome) for people of all ages and abilities. All participation fees ($20.00 per person) will be donated to the Team Brent Wheels PMC Fund\,\nbenefitting life-saving cancer treatment and research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.\nLater that day (12:oopm – 5:00pm) and again on Sunday 1/28 (same time) CTFL will\ntransform to exhibit Shivani’s colorfully energetic and inspiring collection.\nAttendees can also participate in a raffle prize drawing to win one of Shivani’s paintings\nvalued at over $650.00. DESCRIPTION:The annual Wilton Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Stroll will be on Friday Dec. 1st! Together with our event sponsors\, Fairfield County Bank and Meadow Ridge and in partnership with the Town of Wilton\, Wilton Fire Department\, Wilton Volunteers Ambulance Corps.\, Wilton Kiwanis Club and several retailers and businesses in the Town Center\, all are invited to join the festivities beginning at 5:00 pm. \nGet in the holiday spirit as you warm up by a roaring bonfire and partake in the marshmallow roast and hot cocoa provided by the Wilton Kiwanis Club at Schenck’s Island. Make your way to the Town Green to be enchanted by the strolling carolers and dance performance from Wilton’s Conservatory of Dance. Families can enjoy crafts and treats provided by our local non-profit organizations\, and new this year\, Justin Baiad Photography will be creating a magical winter experience with digital photo packages at the Holiday Stroll. Get your portraits with Buddy the Elf as he joins in the fun! In the tradition of giving back for the holiday season\, all proceeds for the photo session will benefit Trackside Teen Center. \nIn addition to the festivities at the Town Green and Schenck’s Island\, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.\, Wilton Library staff will welcome visitors outside their front entrance handing out special gift bags with sweet treats\, while supplies last. Children can stop by the Children’s Library to make a special bookmark to take home with their books! They invite all visitors to shop for gifts and stocking stuffers at the Holiday Book Sale in the gallery. \nAt 5:45 pm we will officially kick off the Christmas season with our tree lighting ceremony followed by the much-anticipated arrival of Santa at the Town Green ushered in by the Wilton Fire Department’s Ladder Truck 5. Children of all ages will be able to visit Santa at the gazebo where they can share their holiday wishes and receive a special treat starting at 6:00 pm. \nCelebrate the magic of the holidays and join in the festivities with our retailers\, restaurants\, and local businesses and we encourage the community to stroll through town\, visit\, shop and enjoy the generous hospitality of participating local businesses that evening! Explore the Wilton Historical Society’s 18th and 19th century historic buildings – charmingly decorated for the holiday season – to find multiple layouts of model trains that wind their way through miniature snowy landscapes\, vibrant towns\, and mountain tunnels\, as well as some unexpected characters! The interactive displays and model holiday village are perfect holiday fun for all ages. Whether a model train builder or collector\, young wannabe train conductors\, or a family looking for a delightful seasonal experience\, the Great Trains Holiday Show has something for everyone. \nThe Great Holiday Train Show will run November 24th\, 2023 through January 15th\, 2024. Wilton Historical Hours during this event are Wednesdays–Saturdays\, 10:00 – 4:00; and Sundays\, 12:00 – 4:00. Admission is free for members of Wilton Historical; $5 per non-member child and $10 for non-member adults. \nSpecial holiday programming occurs on select Saturdays in December\, including a singalong with Music on the Hill on December 2nd and a visit from Santa Claus on December 9th! DESCRIPTION:American Sign Language (ASL) is a Connecticut invention. Created by faculty and founders of the American School for the Deaf in Hartford during the early 19th century\, it was inspired by several other sign languages developed in both Europe and America. Today\, ASL is used by hundreds of thousands of people across the United States to communicate. \nJoin the Wilton Historical Society in exploring ASL through a four part series that will offer an introduction to learning the language as well as its history. Tickets are on sale now. Proceeds from the celebratory event will be used throughout the year to fund numerous community projects throughout Western Connecticut. The event is hosted by comedian Christine O’Leary with entertainment by guest auctioneer Max Tucci and music by local musician Jim Endee. The evening will feature food and cocktails by Hayfields Market\, a wine pull\, a bourbon tasting\, both live and silent auctions\, offering a remarkable array of exclusive items and experiences up for bid. The attire is “Connecticut country casual.” The fundraiser will celebrate 31 years of building homes\, communities\, and hope in the Western Connecticut region. By attending this event\, guests will play a vital role in helping local families achieve the dream of homeownership\, fostering stability\, and empowering their communities.
